A Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation branch in the Columbus, Ohio area partnered with the American Warrior Initiative (AWI) to honor three local U.S. veterans. Alongside with this event, the Fairway branch held a residential housing “boot camp” to train real estate professionals and mortgage planners on how to best handle the home-purchase needs of active duty military members and veterans.
The first honoree was Melissa Shank, a U.S. Navy veteran and single mother. Melissa received a family grant of $5,000 for much-needed home repairs as well as a new roof provided by local roofing company Feazel roofing!
The next veteran honored was Douglas Target, a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam. Douglas had been on the waitlist with 4Paws, a local service dog company. Thanks to the generosity of Fairway, AWI and local real estate agents, Douglas was taken off of the waitlist and presented with a service dog.
The last honoree was Gerald Johnson, a U.S. Armed Forces special operations veteran. Gerald had been saving his money for quite a while to purchase a service dog, but because of Fairway and AWI, he was given one at no cost to him.
Co-founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, please give me a call.Tags: Veterans
